First ski meeting is over: Zermatt. Exclusive location close to Cervino where cars are excluded from the streets. We have been there for 10 days in a huge house for 12 people and luggages where we trained hard and had a lot of fun between us. We were divided into 2 in each room and I was together with my loyal partner Maubi. One of the thing that occurred the most was the fake competition to occupy the kitchen in order to prepare the dinner, since we all had different diets and habits to follow. The Giant-Slalom Team is composed of men between 20 and 36 years old, a good mixture of young and expert athletes.
There is a new trainer this year, Steve Locher, who required high level of training and concentration from the very first day. At first, we begun with free ski and basic things in order to recreate the feeling we used to have with the snow and the environment. It has been an intense meeting because apart from the ski sessions we used to have some gym and muscles exercises in the afternoon. The weather was always good except from two days when we were forced to train in the gym.
Just few days of relax in Gozo, a small island close to Malta, and then back on track. Big news for the next destination. Location: Ushuaia, Argentina!
We have been flight for two days to land in this far away but fascinating country. The landscape shows both the ocean and the snow lands which are 30 minutes far away one from each other. The most attractive thing of Argentina is waking up in the morning looking at the ocean from our hotel and then going out with skis and boots. By the way, this is so great! The cities are very different from the European ones I am used to, both in the architecture and in the relaxing atmosphere. Despite from this, we still wake up early in the morning and we get to Cerro Castor before the sun comes out. Slopes are great and super long so that we can easily train in the best way possible. The weather is tricky, it changes from a snowy day to a sunny one just after one hour because of the ocean’s influence nearby. We have been training both in Giant and Slalom; once we had also a simultaneous training between us just to increase the level we are used to and to have fun while working!
I am very happy about this Team, both because of the people I met and the atmosphere. We really train hard but always with fun 🙂 I will get back to you as soon as I will land in Italy.
